: Dear All,
: I am in possession of the Certificate of Service of my late uncle Richard Swarbrick. In the section detailing his service there is the entry "BETFOR 9/12/49 - 1/4/53." At the time of this posting Dick was serving in the R.A.V.C. - having previously served in The Loyal Regiment.
: Can anyone help me as to what Dick might have been doing through this time? Did BETFOR have horses, mules, camels?
: Any thoughts would be appreciated,
: Thank you,
: Dave Swarbrick
Maybe he was there to look after the " Dogs of War" !!!! Are you sure it was RAVC and not RAMC ?
I never saw any animals used there, from 1947-49
That is not to say there were none there !
Was in REME, so we were mechanised, but we also got around a lot ......
