: : : Well if it's long service honourable performed, you need look no further than the 'Charge of the light Brigade, in which the Hussars were the the Stars. My Regt. 7th Queens Own. were there, their history continued; At the Battle of Monte Casino once again; there the Regt. was presented with the Polish 'Maid Of Warsaw'. LtCol. Jane was commanding officer.

: : : I joined the 7th from Villach, into Palmonova. the walled town: alongside us were the 'Beys' Our divi sign was the Green jerboa on white with red Rim (Italian colours) 7th armour Brigade, change in Germany to the 4th armour Brigade white square with Black Jerboa. Those were the days my friend....'

: : : anyway 'nough said of one of the Elite (true) I ended in a very fine regt. The Royal Scots Greys.

: : What a coincidence!! I too served with both the 7th (QO) Hussars and The Royal Scots Greys. I joined the 7th Hussars in Luneburg in 1949, Royal Signals Attached, and left them in early 1952 to join The Royal Scots Greys as their Royal Signals Sgt and went out with them to Barce, Libya. I left them in Barce in May 1954 and came back to my own Corps, a much wiser and experienced soldier. Two of the finest cavalry regiments in the British Army and my time with both regiments was a highlight of my 26 years service.
: : My sincere regards,

: : Jim Crow

: Luneberg was where I met up with the 'Greys' loved their cap badge the Eagle on a broken staff with Waterloo beneath, RSM then was a great Guy Bobby Innes, heavyweight boxing champ British army: He was a Scot.

The RSM of the Greys when I joined them was Frank Dodd and later Terry Shaw took over from him. The CO was Dougie Stewart. The CO of the 7th Hussars in my time was Bill Rankin and the RSM Was "Blackie" Blackshaw (One eye) a super RSM.

Regards,

Jim.
